ZIZI

It is an Italian restaurant, and a favourite of my son. we frequently go there, specially the one in Canary Wharf.
Here the ambiance is good, one gets an excellent view of Thames and service is also good with a smile.
Detailed menu can be found here..what I like is..
in starters...Arancini
Crispy risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella
and peas, served with a tomato chilli sauce. 5.15..this is like Indian cutlets:)
and

Bruschetta al Pomodoro
Toasted ciabatta with fresh baby plum tomatoes,
basil and red onion. 4.95

In the main dish we ordered Pizza Margharita and one pasta..pizza is delicious , we normally like thin crust.

in dessert I just loved....
Torta Amaretti

Mascarpone and amaretto fl avoured cheesecake with
a fruit compote and fresh mint. 4.95
Tiramisu..is also good.
Light sponge soaked in espresso and liqueur, layered with mascarpone and cocoa. 5.10

and for chocolate lovers...

Chocolate Melt
Rich chocolate dessert with a soft, melting centre served
with vanilla mascarpone or gelato. 5.25 V..it is sinfully delicious.

JALPAAN

Nungambakkam outlet we tried the buffet...ambiance is ok type, seating is neither very close nor very spacious.just good enough.. nothing very fancy..but nice. Menu is quite good, with lots of variety.soups are very good, green pea and tomato both, infact the best. Then starters, some kalari potatoes, sesame kabab, pakoras and chilli paneer etc..chilli paneer he brought only when i saw it in menu and asked him...but anyway it wasnt good, pakora and sesame kabab were good but for second serving we waited, till we almost came to the end of our lunch. for papdi chaat, they were putting everything on sem( maida sticks fried)..a variation and a good one. In the main food they had sambhar rasam, paneer khurchan daal and one more vegetable.here I found it lacking not a singe preparation was good, daal was good but it had too much of salt., naan kulcha were well made. they had paani puri dahi vada, and variety of rice and salads etc.I like their way of serving dahi bhall.small small kat...

Ingredients:----- 1cup broken wheat 250 gm cabbage..julienned 1small capsicum..julienned 1 carrot grated 1 tsp. oil 1tsp. mustard seeds. 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1/2 tsp salt or as you like it 1/2 lemon 2 tbsp. roasted peanuts. Green chilli (optional) coriander leaves..finely chopped for garnishing. Dry roast the broken wheat, till it is golden. In a pan put oil, and when it is hot add mustard seeds. When they start spluttering add all the vegetables. saute them for 5-8 minutes, till they get shiny or loose water. Keep them aside. Now cook the broken wheat with 2 cup water, turmeric and salt, slow the fire and cook till all the water is absorbed. Mix the vegetables in this. Now while serving spread some peanuts and then sprinkle lemon. TIPS:.....even you can roast the wheat in microwave also, you will have to stir it once or twice. Some people add tomatoe...
