GREEN PARK

Green park is located in Vadapalani and has a huge space. Ambience inside is good. We went there for Lunch Buffet. and found it good..here are the details...

Starters...one non veg and one veg,...daal vadas and without any chatney, this is one area I found where they could add some dishes, specially for north Indians, there os no snack and even vadas had no chatney.

Beverages..Jeera paani and lassi(salted)....Both were good but I would have preferred some juice or some aerated drink.

Soup..Mulligawny..my hubby found it very tasty, I prefer tomato soup only.

Main course...5 types of rice.
8 varieties of salad.
2 types of pastas
vegetables..khoya paneer, karela, 2 curries in south indian style, daal masala, and one fried vegetables...bhajia type..this they could have given hot and served as starters with chatney,3 types of papad and butter naan..yes dahi bada also..in south indian style that is without tamarind chatney and with sour curd, but it was tasty.

desserts....Here they had very good variety...balushahi,gulabjamun, gajar halwa, peanut barfi, mysore pak, payasam, rabri..all indian sweets..then fruits, 3 types of icecream, pudding, trifle, cheese cake and some more...and they were delicious.

Tea and coffee..I saw the counter, of course we didnt take it.

And all this for the price of440/ per person.

Ambiance..good an good seating,

Service is also good

Food preparations are good, except that they could add some more variety in the main course and starters.

NAMKEEN DALIA

This is a very healthy breakfast for me and I like it also, almost no oil is used and it has lots of vegetables. and not much cooking even.
Ingredients:-----
1cup broken wheat
250 gm cabbage..julienned
1small capsicum..julienned
1 carrot grated
1 tsp. oil 1tsp. mustard seeds.
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp salt or as you like it
1/2 lemon
2 tbsp. roasted peanuts.
Green chilli(optional)
coriander leaves..finely chopped for garnishing.
Dry roast the broken wheat, till it is golden.
In a pan put oil, and when it is hot add mustard seeds.
When they start spluttering add all the vegetables.
saute them for 5-8 minutes, till they get shiny or loose water.
Keep them aside.
Now cook the broken wheat with 2 cup water, turmeric and salt, slow the fire and cook till all the water is absorbed.
Mix the vegetables in this.
Now while serving spread some peanuts and then sprinkle lemon. TIPS:.....even you can roast the wheat in microwave also, you will have to stir it once or twice. Some people add tomatoes also, but I dontbecau…

URAD DAL kHICHDI

This was the staple diet in winters in my childhood. Actually we started making this only from GangaDusshehra and stopped it from Shivraatri. My mind found this logic in this ritual..its considered hot...gives heat, so once the winter is gone..its not good to eat ..may be.
Ingredients: 1cup Uradcchilka (black urad) 1 and half cup rice. 4 cup water. 1tsp. turmeric 1+1/2 tsp. salt or to taste. green chutney, curd papad Radish..cut into long pieces and sprinkle salt and lemon juice on them. Desi ghee Put daal, rice, water, turmeric and salt together in a cooker and put it on the gas. After one whistle slow the the fire. keep it for 3 minutes and switch off. let it cool for 5 minutes. Now open it , and serve it hot with dollops of ghee and accompaniments. I love it with radish and curd. My dad always used to like it after a little shallow frying...for this take a fry pan, put some ghee and add khichdi, and shallow fry it, till its a little crisp. Its like Indian fast food...cooks in a jiffy and healthy to…

Roast And Grill..Green Park vada palani

I bought the groupon coupon for this and found that this was my best deal. The restaurant is on the roof top with a pool..and ambiance is very good....infact I loved sitting poolside..looking over the lighted Forum Mall...much better than sitting inside.

Then the service was excellent, they were polite and very attentive to our needs, before we finished even one started, another came on the table. In the mocktails we ordered kiwi cooler and it was perfect. Then in the starters they had corn cob, paneer tikka, onion capsicam with herbs , potato with cream, soya patties etc, all grilled or roasted. He asked us whether we wanted any repeat of the starters, but it wasnt possible for us, we were full..so much that we picked a little from the main food. There we had 4.5 vegetables and daal, veg, pulao, curd rice, and naan..baiagan ka  salan, shahi paneer and daal were just yummy..Only thing I miss in chennai is that rarely they have dahi bhalla in menu..but here they compensated with starters.I…
