Raintree--Rainbow Multicuisine Restaurant

Hotel RAINTREE is one of the first ecotel hotel of south India and one of the total 36 hotels in the world. In the front water fountain and statue give it a very good ambiance. Inside in front of the reception there is a very big aquarium. It has one multi cuisine restaurant and one Chinese one. We tried RAINBOW-MULTICUISINE.

We had buffet..being a vegetarian tried only veg. menu

Sitting is ok a little close, but looking at today's property prices its ok.

Service is polite and good.

So now start the menu......they have mulligatawny soup and mocktail-----both are good:)

For the starters they had barbecued potatoes and a sort of small tikki with Chatney......chatney was good, rest Ok and yes they had potato pakoras---ok ,but salt was in excess:(. and then there was this bakery section which had ..bread sticks, many cheese varieties, mini croissant(Hmm:), fresh fruits and salads decorated in a very innovative way----good to see:) and various pastas.

Then in the main dinner-----6 vegetables cooked in south indian style and six in north indian:)

I will try to remember the names if I can...

south Indian.....dry potatoes,mix veg,, brinjal,...sorry i cant

north Indian......one daal (lentil), paneer, okra, mix veg, turai( snake gourd),cauliflower

dahi vada,veg.pulao,jeera rice,plain rice,curd rice

Roti and naan and various pickles.

Most of the preparations were good, but roti and naan were hopeless, i think they are very typical, its better if the restaurants try adding pooris.

Now Dessert.....naam se hi mooh me paani aa jaata ha...so yummy and so much of variety

coconut barfi, malai ka laddoo, one other bengaali sweet, rasmalai,

3 types of icecream with toppings, trifle cake, strawberry slice, pineapple slice, apple tart, chocolate basket, orange jelly with kiwi fruit and then fresh fruits.

and all this just for 650/per person only inclusive of taxes, i think very reasonable.

I will certainly go there again and take my children also there.and location is also very comfortable in alwarpet.

NAMKEEN DALIA

This is a very healthy breakfast for me and I like it also, almost no oil is used and it has lots of vegetables. and not much cooking even. Ingredients:----- 1cup broken wheat 250 gm cabbage..julienned 1small capsicum..julienned 1 carrot grated 1 tsp. oil 1tsp. mustard seeds. 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1/2 tsp salt or as you like it 1/2 lemon 2 tbsp. roasted peanuts. Green chilli (optional) coriander leaves..finely chopped for garnishing. Dry roast the broken wheat, till it is golden. In a pan put oil, and when it is hot add mustard seeds. When they start spluttering add all the vegetables. saute them for 5-8 minutes, till they get shiny or loose water. Keep them aside. Now cook the broken wheat with 2 cup water, turmeric and salt, slow the fire and cook till all the water is absorbed. Mix the vegetables in this. Now while serving spread some peanuts and then sprinkle lemon. TIPS:.....even you can roast the wheat in microwave also, you will have to stir it once or twice. Some people add tomatoe

Last weekend we tried Savera hotel on RKSalai road. There they had buffet in their Piano restaurant. I just loved the food here, their most of the preparations are very good. We started with mango drink, thye had one strawberry and one punch too. we tried the first one, but it was too sweet. For the starters they had..paapdi chaat, samosa, kachori, gobhi manchuria, and pakoras, golguppas. In the  main course there was..two varieites of aloo.both yummy, and paneer bhujai, beans,3types of south Indian curries, curd rice, three varieties of pulao..all very tasty, and noodles with 6-7 varieties of salad including choley also..rice varieties were very good and so were the naans. for the desserts there were 5-6 baked varieties and few were really good, three types of icecreams with toppings, then, moong daal pyasam, almond gulabjamun and carrot mysore pak..these two were awesome, I really hogged them and then some fruits. All in all a very good buffet and price is also reasonable...730/
