STUFFED POORIES

Ingredients----

1cup flour

2potatoes boiled

salt to taste

1/4 tsp chilli powder

1 tbsp. green coriander finely chopped

1 green chilli finely chopped

Mash the potatoes

.Mix all the ingredients and knead a hard dough adding water a little little, as required.

Take a medium size ball and roll into a poori.

And deep fry them.

Relish them hot in breakfast with pickles.

Do not try to roll into a thin poori. You should not knead the flour and keep it, knead only when you are going to make it, as otherwise potatoes leave water and the dough becomes too soft to roll.

You can prepare simple alu bhaji with this.

Shalom: It doesnt take much time, u just have to knead the flour and then fry, but yes on weekends we always relish it more, as we are relaxed, no hurried eating as it is in my home by my H:)
I am going to put many more recipes, and i am thinking of making it an interactive blog, where I can answer any query if any by youngsters..who are learning cooking, may be i cud be of any help to anyone.

NAMKEEN DALIA

This is a very healthy breakfast for me and I like it also, almost no oil is used and it has lots of vegetables. and not much cooking even. Ingredients:----- 1cup broken wheat 250 gm cabbage..julienned 1small capsicum..julienned 1 carrot grated 1 tsp. oil 1tsp. mustard seeds. 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1/2 tsp salt or as you like it 1/2 lemon 2 tbsp. roasted peanuts. Green chilli (optional) coriander leaves..finely chopped for garnishing. Dry roast the broken wheat, till it is golden. In a pan put oil, and when it is hot add mustard seeds. When they start spluttering add all the vegetables. saute them for 5-8 minutes, till they get shiny or loose water. Keep them aside. Now cook the broken wheat with 2 cup water, turmeric and salt, slow the fire and cook till all the water is absorbed. Mix the vegetables in this. Now while serving spread some peanuts and then sprinkle lemon. TIPS:.....even you can roast the wheat in microwave also, you will have to stir it once or twice. Some people add tomatoe...

JALPAAN

Nungambakkam outlet we tried the buffet...ambiance is ok type, seating is neither very close nor very spacious.just good enough.. nothing very fancy..but nice. Menu is quite good, with lots of variety.soups are very good, green pea and tomato both, infact the best. Then starters, some kalari potatoes, sesame kabab, pakoras and chilli paneer etc..chilli paneer he brought only when i saw it in menu and asked him...but anyway it wasnt good, pakora and sesame kabab were good but for second serving we waited, till we almost came to the end of our lunch. for papdi chaat, they were putting everything on sem( maida sticks fried)..a variation and a good one. In the main food they had sambhar rasam, paneer khurchan daal and one more vegetable.here I found it lacking not a singe preparation was good, daal was good but it had too much of salt., naan kulcha were well made. they had paani puri dahi vada, and variety of rice and salads etc.I like their way of serving dahi bhall.small small kat...
